Thumbs Up to Claim: Slack-to-GHL Lead Assignment Automation

Client Request

The client wanted a way to automatically assign new leads in GoHighLevel (GHL) to the team member who reacted 👍 on the Slack notification message for that lead. They were looking to eliminate manual claiming, double assignments, and delayed follow-ups.

Solution

I built a Zapier automation that connects Slack reactions to GoHighLevel via LeadConnector.
When someone reacts 👍 on a new lead message:

  1. Zapier detects the reaction.

  2. AI extracts the lead’s details (name, email, phone).

  3. The reacting Slack user is mapped to their GHL user ID.

  4. The contact and opportunity are automatically assigned to that user in GHL.
